Wizard of Wor competition at the HomeCon 10

23 01 2011

At the 10th issue of the HomeCon Wizard and I organized a Wizard of Wor competition. We played the game on a Atari XL. 26 people participated and we had a good tournament.

WGL December 2010 Meeting at the FAO (For Amusement Only) in Rodenbach.

9 01 2011

We have been invited at the FAO (For Amusement Only) rooms which is a location that is stuffed full with arcade machines and pinballs.

We have also got a small  tour and heard some stories regarding the history and origin of the machines. And also we have got an inside of the stock and repair room where one can see spare parts and how poor and old pinball machines are taken apart for general cleaning and put together again.

They have their door open on every 1st Saturday per month! Entrance was 5 € for permanent free play on all machines and one could buy snacks if wanted for a little extra cash. Amazing where machines like MotoChamp which was a mechanic arcade machine made of rolling street on some kind of endless paper and the cross bikes being on stakes rather than just displayed on a screen.

Surprising was the  force feedback experience when you crashed into an opponent, the handle bar shacked extremely like a real bike would, not bad for a machine from the 60s! 🙂

A machine running on the same principle was also “Super Speedway” that was however difficult to play and had a strange look.

We also had a pinball competition  , the scores as follows:+++

Frank 1675230
Jörg 395080
Jan 147030
Holger 137040
Thorsten 105470

The funniest was a Gaunlet match we had playing 4 of us . I played the archer and caused amusements because sometimes I went into frankly fire and so lost some energy at times.

(It is a game we love to play and so regularly did on past WGL meetings on the Nintendo Wii 🙂 ).

After that we went to some Italian restaurant and ate some pizza 🙂

Mittwinter Meeting 2009

18 01 2009

Bilder vom Mittwinter Meeting in Kirchen. Auf dem Bildern ist auch der “Defender or Die” Spielewettbewerb zu sehen, den ich sogar gewonnen habe!

The Mittwinter meeting was foundet by Dr.Zed and is held in Kirchen (Sieg) in Germany. The meeting once was started for Amstrade and Z80 fans, but nowadays all retro computers are present. This year you could spot: Amstrade, Atari,Commodore and Acorn.

The meeting is held in the western forest hills nearby Siegen, and it’s allways really cold up their in the mountains. There is a buch of crazy people present, from allover Germany (Bielefeld, Osnabrück, München, Wiesbaden, Darmstadt, Aachen, Hagen, etc).

Beside a lot of repair actions this year Cash organised a Defender or Die (Amstrade CPC) competition.

Here the results:

1. ThorN 16300
2. Tolkin 8100
3. Ingo 8050
4. Cash 7675
5. Nilquader 5825
6. xesrjb 3425

My first victory on a CPC 🙂
